About Us
Typewriter Rebellion is an indie production company based in Victoria, BC specializing in writing, directing, and producing female-focused scripted comedy, fantasy and horror genres. The company has produced three completed projects (2 short films, 1 TV Pilot), with a television series, and two horror feature film concepts in development. Co-Founders Kelly Finerty and Dustin Finerty champion Canadian filmmaking, producing their projects locally with talent and technicians from the Canadian West Coast. If they had a tagline, it would be “Commercially weird with a dash of West Coast woo-woo”, where storytelling always comes first.

Kelly Finerty
Co-Founder, Writer, Director
Kelly Finerty is a Canadian Director, writer, editor and producer based on Vancouver Island. Her work explores the raw life experiences of women through comedy, fantasy, and horror. Coming onto the film scene in 2015 as Producer for short film horror thriller "13 Days", her most recent work as writer director for television comedy Pilot “Life with Dotty” garnered production support from Telus Storyhive (2025) as one of the top 20 scripted films in British Columbia. Her previous work as writer producer for rom-com short “Imitates Life” (2021) made the Canadian festival rounds, and won Best Film at Qualicum Beach Film Festival, receiving worldwide licensing and distribution via Relay streaming service in 2025. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Victoria.
Dustin Finerty
Co-Founder, Writer, Producer
Dustin Finerty is an award winning producer and screenwriter based on Vancouver Island in Victoria, B.C. where he co-wrote and produced the short film Imitates Life (2021) winning best picture at the Qualicum film festival. Dustin began studying film at the Victoria Motion Picture School, graduating with distinction in the screen acting program in 2004 and quickly snagged roles in several short and feature films. Beginning in 2015 Dustin began creating his own projects starting with the short film13 Days (2015) which he wrote, directed, and produced; Imitates Life (2021) as co-writer and producer; and Life with Dotty (2025) serving as a producer and actor. Today Dustin serves as Co-Owner of BC based production company Typewriter Rebellion with his wife, writer, director, and producer Kelly Finerty where they focus on creating compelling auteur driven cinema with a focus on female led films and story telling and are currently developing a feature film based on Kelly's Telus Storyhive Scripted edition funded short film Life with Dotty.
